Some people are too ‘Amsterdam Culture’ to ignore–and that’s a happy thought! Def P is at it again: a new expo coming up, a new tour and a new solo show–his first since 2007! Both the expo and the solo show are in Amsterdam, this very weekend.
Paintings
The expo of Def P‘s paintings has its official opening tomorrow, 16:00 hrs / 4 pm at the Keukenstudio Amsterdam (‘Kitchen Studio Amsterdam’).
At a… Kitchen Studio? Oh, yes. It’s to celebrate their re-opening. Forget about the kitchens (or enjoy having a peek) and check out Def P’s colourful work.
There’s a band playing, too: Kamasutra. Def P will jam with them for a bit. So, for an odd combination of kitchens, happy music and original paintings… Friday October 10 is your day!
The paintings will be there for you to see for ‘about a month’. If you fall in love with one of them, no worries. They’re for sale.
The festive opening ends about 20:00 hrs / 8pm, as there’s another first tomorrow…
…the first show of the Kleine Jongenstour 2.0 (Little Boys’ Tour 2.0).
It’s in Zaandam, which is not that far out of town, but out of town it is. What ‘Little Boys’ exactly? Besides Def P: DJ DNS, Diggy Dex, Engel & Just. The Little Boys are playing at De Flux, entrance fee: € 12. Doors open at 21:30 hrs / 9.30 pm.
Solo Gig
Quite special considering it’s been seven years: a solo show by Def P. It’s a try-out for his new hip hop show at a rather cool event: the ADM Festival, Saturday October 11th, 17:00 hrs / 5pm: “The ADM exists 17 years; For two days we will celebrate autonomy, creativity, tolerance and most of all our freedom. Everybody is welcome at our birthday party!”
How’s that for an invite–and a good cause to celebrate?
WHY Def P’s paintings are colourful, quite often featuring Amsterdam; his music is energetic.
WHY NOW This weekend you can ‘get to know’ the guy both as a painter and a musician.
WHEN October 10, opening exposition, 16:00 hrs / 4pm (free of charge); October 11: solo show at the ADM Festival, 17:00 hrs / 5pm. Entrance fee: donation 13:00 hrs / 1pm until 15:00 hrs / 3pm; after 15.00 hrs/ 3pm: € 15. Kids don’t have to pay.
